Hello!

late into January? Oh well, I’m saying it! Happy New Year!!elcome to my site! I’m Carmen of Psyche and Soul and I’m so excited to have you here!

Welcome to my inaugural post. Through my musings it is my hope to share with you a bit about me, my work and my interests in psychotherapy, tarot, astrology and meaning making.

I’ve been reflecting on this annual ritual we have as a global community to mark the passing of the old year and celebrating the birth of the new. It’s funny to me how we mark time as linear, and yet so much of what happens to us in our daily lives is winding and weaving its way through the various parts of us over and over again. Rarely are the events that shape our lives two dimensional, but in fact have a lasting ripple affect through out the years. And yet, still, we mark the old linear year and celebrate the new.

The passage of time is a strange thing. I was speaking with my sister just today about a cruise we went on in 2011, 13 years ago, but you know, I remember it as if it were yesterday. And, conversely, someone might put me in remembrance of an event, and I will have no recollection.

Time is a trickster, I think, it convinces us something happened when it didn’t and vis versa. As I’m venturing into this new year of 2024, I am not setting resolutions, but I am setting intentions. When on the precipice of 2025 I look back on this year, I want to remember the intentions I set – to be more authentic, to be kinder, to honour how I and others are showing up in the world, that each decision that was required of me in 2025 aligned with my values of authenticity and love. As you venture into this new year it is my hope for you that find more of yourself, heal more of yourself, and become more of yourself.

I am brand new to having a website, to blogging and to being a psychotherapist. There are a lot of “new beginnings” happening for me and still more to come!

This was the first year I didn’t make resolutions. I never fulfill them. Never. So, what’s the point? Why do we make resolutions? Are we hoping to change some part of us? Transform it from what it has been for most of our lives into something completely different?
